A welcome and some words of warning
[mute käldee]Hello, ჯეო, and welcome to the Inari Saami Wikipedia. It is nice to see that you want to contribute to this and other Wikipedia versions.
Since you do not know Inari Saami, you should be very careful when you edit. A good strategy would be to add only pictures, do formatting and the like. If writing text, you should really be very careful, ask other writers, and preferably use template sentences you are sure that work. Als that is dangerous, though. To take an example, consider your article Manana Šalikašvili lâi georgialâš kirječällee., which means "Manana Šalikašvili was a Georgian author." Now, since she is still alive, this is not strictly true, and the article in Simple English also states that she is a Georgian author. As a matter of fact, you did the same mistake on the Icelandic WP as well (var for er). I do not know what has happened, but the point is that whereas the sentence is OK for, say, Agatha Christie it is not appropriate here. The verbform you look for is lii, "is". Your presidential articles are more problematic: Donald Trump lii President ij Ovtâstumstaatah, in English: "D.T. is President not USA". What you would have needed here is a case form, locative, of Ovtâstumstaatah, and that form will vary from word to word. My suggestion is thus that you restrict your work to what is useful for the WP, and add linguistic content only when you are absolutely sure of what you are doing. - Please stop so we can correct the stuff you've already put up. It's taken me 12 hours just to get the Georgian stuff done. -Yupik (savâstâllâm) 14:32, 15 skammâmáánu 2020 (EET)
- Okay--ჯეო (savâstâllâm) 16:09, 15 skammâmáánu 2020 (EET)
- Thanks. I appreciate the topics on Georgia, etc. you're introducing here, so perhaps we can work together to add one at a time later on? -Yupik (savâstâllâm) 16:39, 15 skammâmáánu 2020 (EET)
- Please stop creating new pages! We need more time to correct the ones you've already created. --Muotâ (savâstâllâm) 20:16, 16 skammâmáánu 2020 (EET)

- We will not tell you that we do not want help, because we really do want help. What we do not want is contributions of the type I described in my first message, contributions where people not knowing the language produce text of bad quality (with lâi for lii, with ij instead of locative case, etc. Other wps have seen far worse examples). People not knowing the language may still do useful work, as long as we (I am in this category as well) adhere to some simple rules. The most important is do not add content containing linguistic mistakes. The easiest way to fulfil this ground rule is to not add text at all, only
create categories, add pictures, crosslinks, better formatting, and the like, and even offer help to the people writing on the wp. You may add lingustic content if you are absolutely sure your content is correct. You may e.g. find a short and clear article, use that as a model, and ask writers active on the wp for advice before you publish. So no, it is not the case that we do not want help. We just do not want help that does more bad than good. The literacy of a language with a small literature is fragile and easy to destroy, and is thus vulnerable and likely to suffer serious damage from people producing large amounts of articles in languages they do not know. We have seen this for many wps for Uralic languages already, and thus prefer to channel outsiders' voluntary work into more productive forms. Trondtr (savâstâllâm) 3. uđđâivemáánuta 2021 kello 00.16 (EET)- I've crossed out create categories, because the Northern Saami wp has had the problem where categories have been created by people who don't know the language and it has been a problem. -Yupik (savâstâllâm) 3. uđđâivemáánuta 2021 kello 00.48 (EET)
- Also add pictures within reason. If an article is 2 sentences long, there's no point in having more than 2 images and definitely not galleries of multiple images (someone does this all the time on the Northern Saami wp and it's annoying). It might not long as bad on a desktop browser as it does on mobiles, but it crowds out what little text there is. -Yupik (savâstâllâm) 3. uđđâivemáánuta 2021 kello 00.51 (EET)
- Myenster:Ping I will not create any categories if it is problem, I just want to help and contribute in this project--MIKHEIL/ჯეო (savâstâllâm) 16. uđđâivemáánuta 2021 kello 22.35 (EET)
